Guild Wars 2 Vista Point – Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Tribulation Rift)

Another Guild Wars 2 post! YummyUnicornNinja and I have been heavily playing Guild Wars 2 since the head-start release. As of this video post I’m a Level 50 Human Guardian. Unemployment depression finds solace in video games, what can we say?

Guild Wars 2 Vista Point - Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Tribulation Rift)

I came across this Vista Point in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, and I cringed when I first saw the potential mario-jumping I had to do in order to get to it. Once I had obtained the Vista Point, I decided this was crazy enough to record. Video below.

You’ll have to enter the Dredge fortress near the bottom of the map, and fight/run your way inside to the base of the tower shown in this video. From there, it’s jump time.

What are Vista Points?

They’re pseudo-achievement objectives on the map, which show a brief cutscene showing off the landscape. In order to complete the current zone’s exploration, you must discover all Vista Points in addition to any Questgiver requests, Points of Interest, and Skill Point challenges.

This Vista Point in particular requires a lot of jumping. It’s highly recommended you bring someone who can provide you a temporary speed bonus, or using your own ability that provides such bonus. I’m sure you can do it without a bonus just fine, but it makes it a lot easier. Also note you get an achievement for completing this jumping puzzle: “Tribulation Rift Scaffolding” (10 points). You can find this in the Explorer Achievement sub-category.

Optional Rock Elemental Mini-Boss

There’s also a Level 50 Rock Elemental mini-boss you can fight near the Vista Point. He usually drops a yellow (rare) item and some goodies within the chest it’s guarding. You’ll also get event experience, karma points, and money for defeating it.

The elemental’s abilities:
-Put bad stuff on the ground. Dodge it.
-Submerge – it disappears when its health reaches 50%, and summons two minions to fight you. While the minions are up, bad stuff still appears on the ground. Defeat the minions, and he’ll come back up for a final bout.
